Partners for Strategic Action
commitment to youth leadership development

PSA believes far too often, young people are overlooked as an important segment to engage in a planning process. As such, PSA works hard both to include youth as part of its plans and processes, but also to develop leadership skills with today’s youth.

For example, PSA led over 200 5th, 7th and 8th graders in Pinal County, Arizona in a visioning and land use gaming exercise for the Pinal County Comprehensive Plan process. Because many of the decisions made in the Comprehensive Plan would be realized by today’s youth, PSA sponsored and funded the opportunity for Pinal’s youngest residents to help design the future of the county.

Additionally, PSA Senior Associate, Audra Koester Thomas, takes special time to developing youth leadership skills. Audra has volunteered as a Junior Achievement instructor in elementary and middle schools, teaching the key concepts of work readiness, entrepreneurship, and financial literacy to young people. PSA is also
working to develop and launch a leadership academy for Fountain Hills’ youth.
